The United League of Arakan (ULA), the political wing of the Arakan Army (AA), issued a scathing statement on October 11, 2025, accusing corrupt officers of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) of providing critical support to the extremist militant groups Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO). The ULA claims these officers are not only supplying weapons and logistics but also offering leadership, aerial reconnaissance, and military intelligence to the terrorist groups operating along the Bangladesh-Arakan border.
According to the ULA, some BGB officers, driven by extremist ideologies and financial gain, are facilitating ARSA and RSO operations by transporting injured or deceased fighters from conflict zones, providing medical treatment, and supplying food, ammunition, and military equipment. The statement alleges that these transactions involve collaboration with Myanmar’s fascist Military Council, further complicating the volatile situation in the region.
The ULA’s accusations come in the wake of a deadly ambush on October 11, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM, when a group of around 10 ARSA militants attacked three local motorcycle taxi drivers 200 meters south of Lipya Khwa Sone in northern Maungdaw. One driver, Ko Nyaing Chan (22), was fatally shot in the back, with the bullet exiting through his abdomen, leading to his immediate death. The other two drivers, Ko Thaung Zin (23) and Ko Naing Lin (33), escaped with severe injuries but were promptly treated by the Arakan Army and remain alive. The victims were local residents transporting essential goods from Nyaung Taung to Kyaing Chaung to earn a living.
The ULA alleges that ARSA and RSO have established fortified camps within Bangladesh and along the border, using these bases to launch cross-border attacks on Arakan Army outposts, harass civilians, and carry out abductions and killings. The group further claims that the weapons and military supplies seized from ARSA and RSO were likely provided by corrupt BGB officers in exchange for financial incentives, with possible ties to Myanmar’s Military Council.

In its statement, the ULA urged Bangladesh’s interim government to take immediate action against these corrupt officials to curb the escalating violence and prevent further destabilization of the border region. The group warned that failure to address these issues could severely undermine bilateral relations, border security, and regional stability in the ASEAN region. The ULA emphasized the need for swift measures to halt ARSA and RSO’s cross-border activities and to hold accountable those BGB personnel involved in supporting the terrorist groups.
This is not the first time the ULA has raised concerns. On October 1, 2025, the group issued a similar statement, calling on the Bangladesh government to crack down on ARSA’s activities and their supporters within the BGB. The continued inaction, the ULA warns, risks empowering terrorist elements within Bangladesh’s military, posing a broader threat to regional security.

The Bangladesh interim government has yet to respond to these allegations. As tensions rise, the international community is closely monitoring the situation, with growing concerns over the implications for stability in the Bangladesh-Arakan border region.
