Two Innocent Civilians Killed and Three Injured in Military Junta Airstrike Near Historic Uri Taung Pagoda in Ponnagyun

It is reported that two innocent civilians were killed and three others injured when the military junta forces dropped two bombs in an airstrike near the historic Uri Taung Pagoda in Ponnagyun Town, Arakan, at around 12:00 PM, September 13.

The deceased in the bombing were identified as Daw Soe Soe (37) from Cedi Yin Village, Ponnagyun Township, and U Soe Soe from Lay Kan Village, Rathedaung Township. Both died on the spot after being struck by shrapnel.

In addition, Daw Oo Kyawt Sein (71) and Ma Phyu Htwe (9) from Cedi Yin Village, Ponnagyun Township, along with U Aung Win Maung from East North Ward, Rathedaung Town, sustained various shrapnel injuries.

The bombs dropped by the terrorist Military Commission exploded near the bank of the Uri Taung Bridge creek on the Cedi Yin Village side, with one bomb landing on the creek bank and another in the water. The historic Uri Taung Pagoda itself was not hit or damaged.

Similarly, at around 12:00 AM midnight today, the terrorist air force dropped bombs on certain areas along the Ponnagyun-Kyauktaw border.

Earlier on September 4, around 10:00 PM, the terrorist Military Commission also launched an airstrike on the historic Gu Wa Pagoda in Ponnagyun Township. According to locals, that attack damaged buildings within the pagoda compound, statues of the 500 Arhats atop Gu Wa Pagoda, and several ancient artifacts.

Currently facing heavy casualties and continuous military setbacks in ongoing clashes with the Arakan Army (AA), the terrorist military junta has been conducting daily airstrikes targeting civilian-inhabited areas unrelated to active combat.
