Two Locals Killed, Three Injured in Junta Airstrike on Ann Township

Two local residents were killed and three others injured after the junta forces launched an airstrike on Talaing Taung Village in Ann Township, Arakan State, around 9:30 PM yesterday (August 8), the AA announced today.


During the nighttime attack, a jet fighter dropped two bombs that struck several areas, including a car repair workshop owned by Ko Aung Paing's family and its surrounding neighborhood in Talaing Taung Village.


The bombs exploded near Ko Aung Paing's family home, completely destroying the house and the workshop structure.


Ko Aung Paing's 67-year-old mother, Daw Ma Lay Lay Nyo, and a workshop worker, 23-year-old Maung Maung Nyan, died instantly on the spot from shrapnel wounds.


Additionally, three others including Ko Aung Paing's wife, his daughter, and another workshop worker named Maung Tun Tun Win sustained injuries. Five vehicles parked at the workshop were also damaged in the attack.
