At Least 12 Locals Killed in Mass Casualty Airstrike Between Gwa and Thandwe

At least 12 local residents were killed when the military junta launched an airstrike on Kyauk Kyi Village in Thandwe Township, Arakan an area at around 1:00 PM today (August 10).
According to local sources, a jet fighter dropped bombs near Kyauk Kyi Village and a local monastery, located between Thandwe and Gwa (Kyeintali) towns.
"As far as we know right now, the death toll has reached 12. Many others were likely injured as well. Nine people died instantly on the spot, and three others passed away at the hospital," a local resident stated.
The resident added that at least two individuals remain missing, with their bodies yet to be recovered.
Among the deceased are Daw San San Maw (45), U Poe Nyein (88), and Daw Khin Ohn (83).
Other victims include Khin Zan Thein (21), Daw Nyi Ma Pu (87), and Daw Ma Ni (57).
Also among the casualties are Ma Zun Mi (36), her 6-year-old son Aung Myint Myat, and Daw Ma Gyi (86).
"The deceased were from three families, with three members killed per household. The victims include a child and several elderly people. Out of the four people admitted to the hospital, three have died, bringing the total count to 12. There are still two missing individuals we haven't found yet," another local resident reported.
It was also reported that several of the injured sustained severe wounds, leaving local villagers in a state of heightened anxiety.
Locals added that the airstrike destroyed more than 20 houses in the village.
Since early July, the military junta has carried out daily airstrikes on Thandwe Township home to Ngapali Beach, Arakan's primary tourism hub resulting in a steadily rising number of civilian casualties.
Facing military setbacks across Arakan, the junta forces have been deploying jet fighters daily for air raids across the region, causing a sharp increase in civilian deaths and injuries.
