Nobi Hossain, a terrorist leader of the ARA group operating covertly in Arakan State, has called on Muslims currently residing in refugee camps in Bangladesh to return to Arakan and engage in armed fighting to retake areas now under the control of the Arakan Army (AA).
In a statement posted on social media on January 9, Nobi Hossain claimed that the ARA had recently achieved what he described as “victories” in attacks against the AA and had carried out acts of retaliation for alleged abuses committed against their community.
“The AA has forcibly occupied our territories, and we will fight to reclaim them. The AA will not be allowed to remain on this land,” he said in a threatening statement.
He further urged Muslims sheltering in Bangladesh’s refugee camps not to continue relying on humanitarian assistance, but instead to return as soon as possible to Arakan State to reclaim what he described as their ancestral land.
Nobi Hossain also alleged that mosques and homes belonging to their community are currently under the control of the Rakhine people, stating that these must be taken back, according to his remarks.
The statement has raised concerns over possible cross-border militant mobilization and the risk of escalating insecurity along the Arakan–Bangladesh border region.
