In Mrauk-U District, the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government held a ceremony on May 23 to grant amnesty to Muslim prisoners, prisoners of war (POWs) along with their family members, and certain civilian prisoners in honor of the sacred and significant Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.

A total of 57 individuals were released under the amnesty. This includes 9 POWs captured during the battles in Mrauk-U, 10 Muslim prisoners, 30 civilian prisoners, 4 organization members, and 14 family members of POWs.

The ceremony was attended by officials from the United League of Arakan (ULA) under the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government, as well as patron leaders of Muslim Affairs. During the event, officials urged the released individuals to refrain from committing any further offenses.

Speaking at the ceremony, U Maung Aye Thar, a Muslim community leader from Mrauk-U District, stated, "I am deeply grateful for the release of these prisoners, demonstrating treatment without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or skin color. For those who have been released today, please live your lives as good citizens, work honestly, and enjoy a happy life with your families. Do your best to contribute and serve under the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government in whatever capacity you can."

Following the speeches, the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) handed over the amnestied individuals to their respective families and provided a financial assistance allowance of 100,000 MMK to each released person.

One of the released individuals expressed their gratitude, saying, "I am overjoyed beyond words that prisoners and POWs are being released like this. I am incredibly happy to be reunited with my family and very grateful. I want to thank the Commander-in-Chief of the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government, as well as every official from the Army.

Furthermore, we wish to contribute from wherever we can toward achieving the Arakan."

It is also learned that during the past month of April, marking the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Arakan Army (AA), 21 individuals, including civilian prisoners and POWs, were previously released.
