On November 7, to commemorate the 47th birthday of the Arakan Army (AA) Commander-in-Chief, sixteen eligible prisoners were granted amnesty and released in Mrauk-U District.

Those released included individuals of Mro, Khami, Muslim, and Rakhine ethnic backgrounds — nine from Mrauk-U Township, six from Kyauktaw Township, and one from Sittwe Township.

They were among those convicted of minor offenses (particularly criminal cases) who were eligible for early release.

The release was carried out in the presence of local authorities from the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government, who handed the individuals over to their families after obtaining written pledges.

Similarly, on the same day, 82 Muslims who had been imprisoned or detained during the 2024 conflict period — for alleged connections with the Myanmar military junta and armed groups such as ARSA and RSO — were also released as part of the AA Commander-in-Chief’s birthday commemoration.
