In a major initiative to enhance environmental conservation and combat climate change, the Department of Forest and Environmental Management under the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government has led the planting of thousands of loop-root mangrove (Byue Chay Htauk) trees along the coastlines of Minbya District.

Targeting coastal areas within Minbya District that have suffered severe mangrove degradation, the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government's Forest Department mobilized a collective effort combining various administrative departments and local residents to plant a total of 7,260 loop-root mangrove saplings.

According to officials, because the Arakan region is a coastal zone, it faces annual natural disasters such as rising sea levels and devastating cyclones. This large-scale tree-planting initiative aims to mitigate these natural disasters, restore the coastal ecosystem, and boost aquatic resources for local populations who rely heavily on the fishing industry for their livelihoods.

Moving forward, the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government plans to expand these efforts across various townships throughout the region to prevent further deforestation and ensure the long-term sustainability of local mangrove forests.

Additionally, the Department of Forest and Environmental Management of the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government has encouraged the public to actively participate in the greening of the region. Local citizens wishing to plant trees and cultivate mangroves can obtain free saplings from the department during the upcoming months of June and July.
