Six Illegal Bangladeshi Fishermen Arrested by Arakan Authorities

On December 3, 2025, at approximately 3:30 AM, a patrol from an Arakan Army military outpost located north of Maungdaw Township in Rakhine State spotted suspicious activity about 500 meters north of their position.
Upon investigation, they discovered eight Muslim individuals from the Bangladesh side crossing the border into Myanmar waters and illegally fishing using five boats.

During the arrest operation, two of the Muslims managed to escape back toward Bangladesh. The remaining six were apprehended along with their five boats.
Authorities also seized one fishing net measuring 600 arms-lengths (approximately 600 yards/meters in length).
The six arrested individuals have been handed over to the relevant department for legal action in accordance with the law.
