Breaking News, October 13, 2026

The Myanmar military junta carried out an airstrike using a fighter jet on October 12 against a vehicle carrying a Chinese national working at a China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) natural gas pipeline facility in Ann Township, Arakan State, according to reports.
The vehicle, which was carrying Chinese employee Chen Jie (ထင်ကြည်) and two Myanmar workers employed at a Chinese natural gas pipeline facility in Ann Township, came under an aerial attack at around 11 a.m. on October 12. The attack occurred midway along the Ann–Padaung road while they were travelling from one gas pipeline facility to another.
According to reports, the Myanmar military had conducted drone reconnaissance along the Ann–Padaung road throughout the day on October 11. After spotting a vehicle carrying a Chinese employee at a location along the road, the military subsequently launched an airstrike using a fighter jet.
All three people in the vehicle, including the Chinese employee and two natural gas pipeline facility workers, survived the attack. However, the vehicle sustained some damage after being hit by bomb fragments.
The Myanmar military continues to launch successive offensives and attacks against areas controlled by the Arakkha Army (AA), including Ann Township. It has also continued to target civilian populations.
Between October 1 and October 12, at least 16 civilians, including children, were killed and at least 47 others were injured in airstrikes targeting residential wards and villages across Arakan State, according to reports.
As the Myanmar military intensifies its aerial bombardment, its attacks are increasingly threatening the safety and security of Chinese nationals working at natural gas pipeline facilities along the Ann–Padaung road, particularly when they travel between facilities.
