A Muslim Internally Displaced Person (IDP) was severely injured after stepping on a landmine planted by the Military Council in Sittway Township, which remains under the control of the terrorist Myanmar military.

The incident occurred on April 17. The victim is a 45-years-old Muslim man from the Dar Paing IDP camp.

The incident took place while he was traveling to Pya Lell Chaung Village to purchase firewood. He sustained critical injuries after detonating a landmine planted by the Military Council.

According to local sources, the mine was planted by a Military Council unit stationed in the village. It is further reported that the military has planted numerous landmines along public footpaths and in areas surrounding the entire town of Sittway.

Due to these actions, many local residents in Sittway Township have been killed or injured by landmines. In a similar incident last March, a Muslim child from Thet Kay Pyin Village was killed, and another man was wounded in a landmine explosion.
