Five Civilians Killed, 17 Injured in Myanmar Junta Jet Fighter Attack on Sein Nying Wa Village, Paletwa, Arakan

At least five civilians have been confirmed dead, and seventeen others wounded, following a series of airstrikes carried out by the "Terrorist Military Commission" on the village of Sein Nying Wa, located in Paletwa Township.


According to an official report submitted by the Township Administration Department on August 24, the attacks were conducted using two jet fighters. The airstrikes occurred in three separate waves, with bombing runs recorded at 11:09 AM, 11:12 AM, and 11:16 AM local time.


Ordnance UsedThe report states that the aircraft deployed a significant payload, including:

  • Two 500-pound bombs

  • One 300-pound bomb

  • Eight rocket projectiles


Civilian CasualtiesThe local authorities confirmed the following individuals lost their lives in the bombardment:


  1. Daw Thanta Phyu (female, 71), daughter of U San Htwe Khaing

  2. Myat Kyaw Naing (male, 10), son of U Soe Thein

  3. Daw Khaing Khaing Soe (female, 46), daughter of U Maung Hla Sein

  4. Daw Ma Than Win (female, 36), daughter of U Maung Tun Sein

  5. Maung Htet Myat Kyaw (male, 1 year old), son of U Kyaw Hnyunt


In addition to the five fatalities, authorities reported that 17 villagers sustained injuries (8 males, 9 females). Among these, two individuals—one male and one female—are listed as critically wounded. All injured persons have been transported to the a local hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.



Property DestructionThe aerial bombardment caused extensive damage to civilian and religious infrastructure. The official tally of destroyed or damaged structures includes:

  • 19 residential homes (destroyed)

  • 1 Buddhist monastery (partially damaged)

  • 1 Dhammayon (preaching hall) (completely destroyed)

  • 1 Ordination Hall (Sim) (completely destroyed)

  • 1 Uposatha rest pavilion (partially damaged)

  • 1 Dining hall (partially damaged)
