Monks and lay donors from Rathedaung Township have donated a total of 45.5 million kyats to support the reconstruction of Mrauk-U Public Hospital, which was damaged in a military airstrike, according to local sources.

The donation ceremony was held on March 26, with attendance from local authorities, members of the monastic community, representatives of the hospital reconstruction committee, and civil society organizations. The funds were officially handed over to the committee responsible for rebuilding the hospital.

The donations were raised collectively to help restore healthcare services in the region. The 45.5 million kyats will be used for reconstruction work, including rebuilding hospital facilities and supporting related needs.

A member of the reconstruction committee said that work is currently underway to rebuild damaged structures, restock medical supplies, and renovate patient wards. Continued public contributions are expected to help accelerate the process.

Earlier, on February 8, Muslim communities from Maungdaw District also contributed 50 million kyats to the reconstruction effort.

Mrauk-U Public Hospital was heavily damaged in a military airstrike on December 10, 2025, which coincided with International Human Rights Day. The attack reportedly killed 33 civilians, including patients and children, and injured 76 others, while causing significant destruction to the hospital facilities.
