General Vijay Kumar Singh, Governor of Mizoram State, India, has directed IRCON International Ltd to accelerate work during the upcoming working season on the 109.2 km road project connecting Paletwa in Chin State, Myanmar, with Zorinpui in Mizoram.

This road project is a crucial component of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTTP) between India and Myanmar, which has been delayed for many years.

On October 5, Sanjay Tripathi, IRCON's Project Head for Myanmar, briefed the Mizoram Governor on the current progress, challenges, and future plans, reporting that physical progress currently stands at 25% and financial progress at 30%.

Governor Vijay Kumar Singh emphasized that the KMMTTP is an important project of the Indian Central Government and instructed that it be treated as a top priority to achieve maximum progress during the upcoming working season without further delay. He also stated that any operational difficulties should be reported and assured that necessary support would be provided to ensure rapid completion.

According to sources, while the 87.51 km Lawngtlai–Zorinpui road section within Lawngtlai District of Mizoram State has been completed, the stretch from Zorinpui to Paletwa remains delayed due to ongoing conflicts inside Myanmar and other challenges.
