The Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO) has delivered rice and blankets to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sami Township, Paletwa District, as part of ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts, according to local sources.
The aid distribution took place on March 21 and reached a total of 144 displaced households from seven villages within Sub-zone No. (9) of the township.
The beneficiary households included 13 from Meitsa Wa (1) Village, 18 from Meitsa Wa (2), 29 from Meitsa Wa (3), 36 from Ngar/Myin Thaung (Ayo), 40 from Wetma Village, 5 from Kuwa Village, and 3 from Sarwa Village.
Each household received one sack of rice—amounting to 144 sacks in total—as well as two blankets per family. In Meitsa Wa (3) Village, 58 blankets were distributed to 29 households.
HDCO officials said that ongoing transportation challenges have led to a shortage of blankets, and assistance to remaining villages will continue once additional supplies become available.
