DLEPS Seizes Foreign Alcohol in Maungdaw Township, Arakan

Authorities from the Department of Law Enforcement and Public Security (DLEPS) under the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government have confiscated foreign-produced alcoholic beverages in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, according to local sources.
The operation occurred on March 18 in Kying Chaung Village, northern Maungdaw Township, targeting retail shops owned by Ma Me Than Nu, daughter of U Abu Ja, and Daw A Chay (also known as U Abu). Officials seized a significant quantity of foreign liquor from both establishments.
At Ma Me Than Nu’s shop, authorities confiscated 15 bottles of Grand Whisky, 10 bottles of Grand Rum, and 108 bottles of ABC beer. Meanwhile, Daw A Chay’s shop yielded 23 bottles and 35 smaller units of Grand Whisky, 18 bottles and 10 smaller units of Grand Smooth, six bottles of Myanmar beer, and 10 bottles of ABC beer.
DLEPS officials confirmed that Ma Me Than Nu and Daw A Chay will face legal proceedings in accordance with the law for selling unauthorized foreign alcoholic beverages and beer.
The seizure was carried out jointly by DLEPS officers, intelligence personnel, and township administrative teams.
The Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government has prohibited the import and sale of foreign alcohol and beer in the region since December 2024. Ongoing inspections continue to detect and confiscate illegal alcoholic products throughout Arakan.
