It is reported that the Arakan National Education Department, under the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government, will establish and conduct higher education programs for young people who have not yet obtained degrees in areas under the Arakan Army's (AA) control.
According to a source, the Arakan National University will offer fourth-year and fifth-year (Law) (Degree) programs, as well as distance education and day courses, for the 2026–2027 academic year for young people who have only received partial education and have been unable to complete their educational journey. Applications have already begun to be accepted.
It is understood that Rakhine youth are welcoming and celebrating the Arakan National Education Department's implementation of such educational initiatives.
A young woman who had to discontinue her studies during her final years of distance education said: "Knowing that the Arakan National Education Department will establish and conduct these educational programs makes me extremely happy. I wholeheartedly welcome it. Young people like us have been distanced from education for far too long. With the opening of such higher education institutions, every young person will finally have the opportunity to complete the educational path they have aimed for."
According to reports, applicants for the higher education institution must have completed the third year (Day) of distance education in their respective specialization from any university, or for Law, must have completed the fourth year. Anyone residing in Arakan Region is eligible to apply, and the course duration is one year.
Available specialization subjects in Arts include: Burmese, English, Geography, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Oriental Studies, Law, Economics, International Relations/Political Science, and other Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts subjects.
Additionally, for Science specializations, applicants can apply for: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Botany, Geology, and other Science subjects.
