The Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government has begun systematically reviewing and returning homes that were temporarily sealed during the transitional period following recent town-seizure battles in Rakhine, according to official sources.
The properties were initially sealed in line with established procedures during the conflict, particularly those linked to individuals suspected of having connections with armed groups or organizations opposing the authorities.
Officials said homeowners who can provide credible evidence proving they have no such affiliations have been submitting formal appeals. The Department of Law Enforcement and Public Security (DLEPS) is reviewing these applications and has started reopening properties and returning them to rightful owners where no wrongdoing is found.
U Khaing Thu Kha, spokesperson for the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government, confirmed that the verification process is being carried out carefully and that properties are being handed back once applicants are cleared.
Authorities have also urged displaced residents and those currently outside the region due to conflict or health-related reasons to apply formally with complete documentation in order to reclaim their homes.
