ARSA Terrorist Group Shoots at Fishermen in Naf River, One Injured

A Bangladeshi Bengali fisherman sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg after Islamic militant Bengali armed group, the ARSA terrorist organization, fired at fishermen while they were fishing in Bangladeshi territorial waters of the Naf River in Kayukchhaung Township, Palongkhali District, Bangladesh.

The victim injured in the shooting has been identified as Mohammad Idris, aged 55, residing in the Northern Jaliyapara Ward of Teknaf Township.

On September 14 at around 4:20 PM, while some fishermen were fishing in Bangladeshi waters inside the eastern Naf River near Nazirapara in Teknaf Township, members of the Islamic militant Bengali armed group ARSA from the opposite bank demanded the caught fish from the fishermen. When the fishermen refused to hand over the fish, the group chased and opened fire on them.

During the shooting, a bullet struck fisherman Mohammad Idris in the right knee, causing severe injury.

Fellow fishermen who were with him rescued Mohammad Idris and transported him to the hospital, where he received medical treatment.

It is reported that the incident has caused growing concern among local fishermen.

Furthermore, locals have urged Bangladeshi authorities to implement effective measures to ensure the security of fishermen while fishing in the Naf River and to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.
