Arakkha Food and Drug Administration Conducting Field Inspections to Check for Use of Chemical Drugs in Alcoholic Products in Arakan

News January 22, 2026

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Arakkha People's Revolutionary Government is currently conducting field inspections to determine whether chemical drugs or substances are being used in alcoholic beverage products that are being produced and sold within the Arakan region.

In towns and villages throughout the Arakan region, various types of “forest liquor” (taw arr – locally distilled homemade spirits) are being produced and sold. An FDA official stated that the FDA, together with relevant departments, is carrying out on-the-ground inspections to verify whether dangerous chemical drugs or adulterants — which could pose risks to consumers — are being used in the production and sale of these liquors.

The official further explained that these field inspections are being conducted to prevent any threat to the lives and health of local people who consume these homemade spirits, and to ensure that the production and sales processes are systematic, clean, and hygienic.

Additionally, the FDA has issued instructions that locally produced forest liquor must not exceed an alcohol content of 48%, and that only bamboo pipes or steel pipes should be used in the distillation setup (prohibiting the use of unsafe materials).

Since the Arakkha People's Revolutionary Government began banning and confiscating imported foreign alcohol and beer, various kinds of liquor — including forest liquor — have been produced and sold in townships across the Arakan region. The government is carefully inspecting and managing these alcoholic products to ensure they meet safety standards.
