The Arakan Army (AA) has issued a statement accusing the terrorist military junta of launching a deadly airstrike on a prisoner of war camp in Arakan, killing over 100 detainees.
According to the AA's News and Information Department, the attack took place on March 8, 2026, in the Dar Let Chaung region of AnnTownship. The statement reports that from 11:02 AM to 2:28 PM, the junta deployed four jet fighters and four Y-12 aircraft to conduct an relentless three-and-a-half-hour bombing campaign targeting the prisoner camp.
The AA's initial casualty figures are staggering. The statement reports that 116 prisoners of war were killed and a further 32 were wounded in the aerial assault. It also confirms that an unspecified number of civilian prisoners were among the dead and injured. The AA notes that numerous others suffered severe, moderate, and minor injuries.

The Arakan Army claims this incident marks the highest number of military prisoner casualties from a single junta airstrike in the region, adding that several high-ranking military officers were also killed instantly in the attack.

The statement acknowledges the difficulty in providing a final toll, noting that some bodies are unidentifiable and others remain missing, with only body parts recovered. The AA has stated it will release more detailed information once verification is complete.
