In Sittwe town, still under the control of the terrorist military council, it has been learned that on the evening of December 19 at around 4:00 p.m., approximately eight members of the ALP forces arbitrarily arrested two internally displaced women on charges of defamation. The women were staying at Yatthara Monastery in Kantaing Ward, Sittwe town.
The incident reportedly began with a verbal argument between the wife of an ALP member and the displaced women, leading to accusations that the displaced women had spoken words defaming the ALP, which prompted the arrest.
The two arrested displaced women are an 18-year-old young woman and a 20-year-old young woman from Byine Phyu village in Sittwe town.
The ALP party, led by Daw Saw Mya Raza Lin, has been carrying out arbitrary arrests of urban residents under the pretext of providing security in towns. In collaboration with the terrorist military council, the group is also recruiting new members and conducting military training.
