Due to the lack of regular electricity supply, villages along and near the Union Highway in the Three Brotherhood Alliance-controlled area, Muse Township, at Mile 105 in Mongyu, which face difficulties in nighttime travel, have been provided with solar-powered streetlights on lampposts. This was learned from sources.
Starting from November 15, the Arakan Army (AA) and the Kokang Army (MNDAA) have been installing solar streetlights along the roads at Mile 105 in Mongyu to facilitate easier movement for the public at night.
The electricity at Mile 105 in Mongyu is supplied from Muse Town, which is under the control of the Military Commission forces. Since the latter half of 2025, electricity has been distributed only once a day with time restrictions, causing difficulties for local residents, a local told AB News.
"Without electricity, everything becomes difficult. They provide power from machines, so they give it whenever they want. It comes only once a day, and even then, it doesn’t last a full two hours. When there’s no power, we live in darkness at night. We have to buy candles and rechargeable lights. Prices are high, so those who can’t afford it face a lot of hardship. For cooking, we have to use firewood or charcoal, which costs a lot of money," he said.

"Now that the allied forces are installing solar streetlights, it’s a good thing. It makes traveling at night much easier. I’m very happy and grateful for this effort," he added regarding the solar light installations by the AA and MNDAA.
Approximately 170 solar lights are planned to be installed. So far, they have been set up from Mile 105 in Mongyu to the Chinshankyauk junction, with the remaining areas to be covered one section per day. Villages will be addressed later, according to local news sources.
Similarly, starting from November 13, the Three Brotherhood Alliance—comprising the Arakan Army (AA), Kokang Army (MNDAA), and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)—has been leading efforts to repair damaged sections of the Union Highway between Chinshankyauk and Mile 105 in Mongyu, along the border trade route in northern Shan State under their control in Muse Township.
