Preliminary Statement Regarding the Ambush, Killing, and Abduction of Innocent Civilians by the Extremist Militant Terrorist Group ARSA
October 22, 2025
On October 22, 2025, at approximately 1:40 PM, in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Ko Tun Win (30 years old), son of U Adawng from Kyaukpandu Village, was driving a passenger vehicle. He was returning from Seikkyi Village in Rathedaung Township after purchasing rice, oil, salt, and chili peppers, carrying five passengers toward Kyaukpandu Village.
The passenger vehicle was ambushed near a bridge east of Myoyu Village in Maungdaw Township by the extremist militant terrorist group ARSA. The group abducted the five passengers and the driver, and took all the consumables, including rice, oil, salt, and chili peppers.

The Arakan Army conducted a search at the incident site and pursued the abducted individuals. Near the location of the attack, two of the five passengers, Wai Wai Soe (30 years old) and Naing Naing Swe (40 years old), were found shot dead. Wai Wai Soe’s three-year-old daughter, Khaing Myat Mon, was found alive next to her mother’s body.

Subsequently, the driver, Ko Tun Win, and a passenger, Maung Than Htwe (25 years old), who escaped the attack, were found injured.
The Arakan Army is actively pursuing the ARSA members responsible for the terrorist killings. Further details and follow-up information will be provided as they become available.
