In Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, the 75th Maharaamayan Hari Naam "Ram" Continuous Chanting Festival—one of the most revered religious events for Hindus—was successfully and grandly held for four full days from January 31 to February 3, as reported by AB News from on-the-ground observation.

The festival was organized and led by the Maungdaw District Hindu Community Affairs Committee. The Arakan People's Revolutionary Government provided exact support of 3.5 million kyats (Kyat 350 lakhs) to make the event successful.

In addition, during the festival period, the Arakan Army (AA) took full responsibility for security to ensure the safety of all attendees and to allow everyone to participate peacefully and comfortably.

Health workers from the Arakan People's Health Department also provided free medical treatment and necessary medicines to those who experienced health issues during the festival.

Regarding the holding of the festival, U Shwe Ni, Chairman of the Hindu Community Affairs Committee, said: "We are not only preserving and safeguarding the religious traditions and customs of our Hindu community, but also aiming to further strengthen friendship and harmony among the various ethnic groups and religions in the region. With a focus on the peace and well-being of the entire Hindu community, the local area, and the nation, this festival is being held."

More than 3,000 Hindus from Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Ponnagyun, and Kyauktaw townships attended the four-day religious ceremony.

In addition to Hindu religious leaders, military and civilian officials from the Arakan Army also attended and provided support.

During the festival, attendees were grandly hosted and fed with vegetarian dishes featuring various types of pulses and vegetables.

Hindus stated that this year's festival was a special event that demonstrated ethnic and religious harmony in the region following administrative changes.

It is learned that approximately 13,000 Hindus currently reside in Rakhine State, with the majority settled in Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Sittwe, and Kyauktaw townships.
