Amid ongoing severe flooding and natural disaster challenges in Gwa Township, Arakan State, the military junta launched a heavy airstrike yesterday, July 13. Between 10:00 PM and 10:55 PM, the junta deployed jet fighters and Y-12 transport aircraft to drop more than 50 bombs across Gwa Township.

The terrorist military junta used a jet fighter to carry out four separate bombing runs at 10:00 PM, 10:02 PM, 10:06 PM, and 10:15 PM. Additionally, a Y-12 aircraft conducted six bombing runs between 10:22 PM and 10:55 PM.

The aerial bombs struck several locations, including the foothills near the northern edge of the paddy fields in Kwin Lyar Shey village, the paddy fields west of Yahine Kwin village, the foothills near the eastern edge of the paddy fields in Kyaung Kone village, as well as several spots inside the villages.

Furthermore, two bombs landed inside the residential compound of U A Nyi and along the main road in Kyaung Kone village, but they failed to detonate. Although one bomb fell directly onto the house without exploding, the impact of the landing caused significant structural damage to the building.

To date, it remains unconfirmed whether there are any civilian casualties resulting from these airstrikes.

Previously on July 10, the military junta also carried out airstrikes targeting Kalar Chaung village and a school in Pauk Tu village within the Dhani village tract of Gwa Township. That attack killed four civilians and severely injured another in Kalar Chaung village, while destroying the school and seven homes in Pauk Tu village.
