On November 5, 2025, a fishing boat that illegally entered Arakan territorial waters to poach fish broke down and anchored approximately 850 meters from the mouth of the Alay Than Kyaw Creek.

Upon sighting the said fishing boat, six members of the Coastal Security Patrol arrived at 3:24 PM via one Speed Boat, arrested it, and found on board six Bangladeshi fishermen along with 11 gill nets, 1 drag net, 2 keypads phones, and approximately 80 viss of fish/shrimp.

The six arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been sent to the Intelligence Unit for necessary interrogation and investigation.

It is reported that between January and July 18, 2025, Arakan authorities released approximately 188 Bangladeshi fishermen and 30 boats in the spirit of maintaining good bilateral relations. However, due to the lack of appropriate respect and reciprocal response from Bangladeshi authorities, subsequent intruders have been detained and are being prosecuted under the law.
