It is reported that the Arakan Army has detained 7 Bangladeshi Fishermen who were illegally fishing within Arakan territorial waters.
On April 30, at approximately 9:30 AM today, the first fishing boat was intercepted between Maungdaw and Ale Than Kyaw beach, and 3 Bangladeshi Fishermen were captured.
Additionally, 5 fishing nets were also seized from the first fishing boat.
About five minutes after the first boat was intercepted, a second fishing boat was captured along with 4 Bangladeshi Fishermen and 4 fishing nets.
It is reported that the first fishing boat was detained approximately 790 meters away from the Arakan shore, and the second fishing boat was detained approximately 1.36 kilometers away from the Arakan shore.

Due to the pursuit by the Arakan Army, other fishing boats fled and escaped into Bangladeshi territorial waters.
It is reported that the 2 seized illegal fishing motorboats and the 7 fishermen will be prosecuted in accordance with Arakan law.
Although the Arakan Army’s Maritime Security Force frequently pursues and detains Bangladeshi nationals who illegally fish in Arakan waters, local residents say that illegal fishing activities have not decreased.
It is observed that the Arakan Army frequently releases the detained Bangladeshi illegal fishermen back to Bangladeshi authorities after making them sign a pledge not to fish illegally in Arakan waters again.
