It is reported that Abu Tayib, a resident of Block D-2, Refugee Camp No. 4 in Balukhali, Ukhiya Township, Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh, was arrested yesterday, September 8, by the Bangladesh Armed Police Battalion (APBN) for drug smuggling.

Abu Tayib is also known to be affiliated with the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO).

It is understood that Abu Tayib smuggled and sold drugs in order to purchase arms, ammunition, and provisions for the RSO group.

Allegations have emerged that Abu Tayib acted under the instructions of RSO commanders and was involved in serious criminal activities.

Armed groups based in Bengali refugee camps in Bangladesh including ARSA, RSO, ARA, and RIM are reportedly committing crimes along the Arakan-Bangladesh border, including kidnappings, extrajudicial killings, sexual violence, and drug trafficking.

Self-identified Rohingya refugees have reportedly urged the Bangladeshi government to take effective legal action against armed individuals linked to ARSA, RSO, ARA, and RIM, and to improve the security situation within the refugee camps.
