Mizoram and Arakan Army (AA) Have Good Relations, Says Mizoram Chief Minister

The Chief Minister of Mizoram stated that Mizoram and the Arakan Army (AA) have good relations. He made this remark during the question and answer session of the Mizoram State Assembly budget meeting held on March 11th.
The Chief Minister of India's Mizoram state, Lalduhoma, said that the areas where the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTTP) is located, which is crucial for India-Myanmar trade, are currently under the control of the Arakan Army (AA).
The Chief Minister disclosed this during the question and answer session of the ongoing Mizoram State Assembly budget meeting on March 11th. He also stated that the Myanmar government side is no longer able to control the areas where the KMMTTP road project is situated.
According to the Mizoram Chief Minister's statement, the Mizoram government has a good relationship with the Arakan Army (AA), and it is learned that the Arakan Army (AA) side is also hoping for the time when the KMMTTP road can be opened.
The Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project was initiated in April 2008 as a cooperation between India and Myanmar for trade and development, based on an agreement between the two countries. The total estimated cost for the project is around US$484 million. It is known to include the upgrading of the Sittwe Port and Paletwa Port, as well as the construction of a road from Paletwa to the Indian border.
