It is reported that the Arakan Army (AA) continues to prioritize and carry out mine clearance operations to prevent civilian casualties from landmines planted by the terrorist military during the period of conflict in Maungdaw Township.
These mine clearance operations were reportedly focused primarily around the No. (766) Battalion in Maungdaw town, main roads, and the Myakantha Dam area on January 20 and 21.
During the clearance operations, 78 M-14 type landmines were recovered and seized. Clean-up activities were also simultaneously conducted to ensure local residents can travel freely in these areas, it is learned.

According to statements from local residents, during the conflict period, terrorist military commission troops intentionally planted landmines not only in areas where they were stationed but also in farmlands and routes close to civilians. They also reportedly abandoned unexploded ordnance without proper clearance.
Locals also allege that Islamic extremist militant groups such as ARSA, ARA, and RSO deliberately planted landmines in Arakanese villages, residential compounds, and roads within Maungdaw Township.
It is further reported that the Arakkha People's Revolutionary Government is continuously conducting activities to reduce the dangers posed by mines and unexploded ordnance in the Arakan region. These activities include holding mine risk awareness talks, installing warning signs, distributing pamphlets, and carrying out ongoing mine clearance operations.
