Local sources report that the terrorist Military Council launched an aerial bombing attack on Maungdaw, a frontier town in Arakan, this morning on June 24.

Initial reports indicate that two bombs were dropped on Maungdaw Town shortly after 11:00 AM, landing and exploding near the Border Youth Development School.

A local resident of Maungdaw Township stated, "Because it was raining, some people initially thought it was a lightning strike. Only later did we learn it was an aerial bombing.

They said it hit around the old NaTaLa (Border Youth Development) school compound in the town. From what we gathered initially, there are injured people, but the exact details are not yet known."

It is also reported that shrapnel from the Military Council's bombs hit residential houses near the school.

Investigations are still ongoing regarding the bombing on Maungdaw Town, and the exact extent of casualties and damage remains unknown at this moment.

Maungdaw is a border trade capital between Arakan and Bangladesh, but locals report that border trade operations are unable to function fully due to the terrorist Military Council.

Previously, on the evening of June 17, the terrorist Military Council also launched aerial bombings on town wards and villages in Kyauktaw, killing 9 civilians, including children and women, and injuring up to 18 others.

The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights released a statement on June 22 indicating that the terrorist Military Council has killed 702 civilians across Myanmar within the six-month period spanning from the announcement of the election to its conclusion.
