In Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, local residents and various administrative departments jointly cleaned drinking water ponds that were submerged due to heavy rainfall and flooding last July.

Today, August 20, departments and locals collaborated to pump out water and clean the ponds in Zedi Pyin and Gorni (Muslim) villages to ensure convenient access to drinking water for local residents.

Due to the heavy rains and flooding in July, wastewater and debris entered the drinking water ponds in these two villages within Station District No. 7, causing them to become damaged and contaminated.

To address the resulting drinking water shortages, a joint recovery effort was carried out by the Township Party Office, Fire Department, PALAKA (Public Security Forces), Forest Department, AAP Department, Station District Party and Administrative Bodies, DLEPS, and local community members. Together, they used water pumps to drain contaminated water from the ponds and cleared out accumulated sediment and debris.
