Bangladeshi security forces have arrested a commander and a member of the terrorist group ARSA in a Muslim refugee camp located in the Ukhiya area of Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh.
Personnel from the 14th Armed Police Battalion (APBN) conducted an inspection in the Camp 6 area of Ukhiya Township on the night of August 19, arresting 40-year-old ARSA Commander Mohammad Alam (aka Musa) and 22-year-old member Abdul Hafiz.
The raid was carried out around 9:00 PM by the 14th APBN, and the arrests were confirmed by Battalion Commander Mohammad Siraj Amin.
Prior to this operation, Bangladesh's elite police force had also arrested former ARSA commander Nur Ahmad, who was wanted in connection with various crimes, on August 15.
The latest arrests of ARSA leadership figures came just five days after that previous incident.
As Bangladeshi security forces step up operations to strengthen security and the rule of law within the refugee camps, ARSA's ability to operate inside the camps is becoming increasingly restricted.
Amid these conditions, security forces continue to make successive arrests of the group's members and associates.
