Kyauktaw’s Kyaungpho Village Hit by Junta Airstrike: 6 Civilians Killed, 10 Injured

Today, November 28, at around 10:30 a.m., the military junta carried out airstrikes on several villages at the foot of Kan Saw hill range in Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, killing six civilians (five women and one boy) and wounding ten others.

Between approximately 10:40 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., two bombs were dropped simultaneously on Kyaungpho, Nan Tak, and Pyaung Sit villages in the same area.

This is not the first attack on Kyauktaw:

  • On May 14 and 15, consecutive junta airstrikes on Kyauktaw town itself killed 8 people and injured 14.

  • On September 12, airstrikes hit two schools in Tharakta-pin village, Kyauktaw Township, killing 20 students and injuring 22 others.


The Arakha Army (AA) has repeatedly urged Rakhine civilians to remain extremely vigilant against the dangers posed by the junta’s heavy artillery shelling and airstrikes.


According to records compiled by Western News, from October 29 to November 27, at least 74 people have been injured and 37 killed across Rakhine State due to the military junta’s airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks.


In recent month, the HDCO, the humanitarian wing of the ULA, has released reports on the junta air attacks against the civilain population in Arakan.
