Four Bangladeshi fishermen were arrested on March 17 by the Arakan Coast Guard for illegally entering and fishing in Arakan territorial waters, according to local sources.

The arrests took place at approximately 8:00 a.m., when authorities intercepted a fishing boat carrying the four individuals. The vessel was reportedly operating about 850 meters from the mouth of the Nat River within Arakan waters.

The detained fishermen are currently being held for investigation, and legal action is expected to be taken in accordance with relevant laws.

Authorities stated that the Arakan Coast Guard continues to monitor and crack down on illegal fishing activities in the area. Individuals found trespassing and fishing unlawfully are subject to prosecution and penalties under the law.

Local sources also noted that some previously detained fishermen were handed over to the Bangladesh border authorities on February 16.
