ALP Recruiting IDPs and Civilians in Sittwe to Join the Military Using Financial Incentives
News ၊ October 21, 2026

Amid intense clashes between the terrorist Myanmar military and the Arakan Army (AA) in at least two locations around Sittwe, the ALP led by Saw Mra Raza Lin is reportedly using financial incentives to recruit internally displaced persons (IDPs) and local civilians in Sittwe to join the military.
Local residents stated that ALP members and police officers, acting as lackeys for the terrorist military junta, went around various neighborhoods in Sittwe on October 16, campaigning that those who join the police force would receive 400,000 kyats per youth along with living expenses for their families.
"They are offering money to recruit people into the military. Both ALP guys and police are involved. Everything is extremely expensive in the town right now. Because they are recruiting with these incentives, some youths have ended up getting roped in," said a local resident.
Similarly, on October 20 yesterday, ALP members reportedly visited monasteries sheltering IDPs in Sittwe, aggressively campaigning and offering financial incentives of 3 million kyats for joining the military.
According to reliable ground news sources, the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) led by Saw Mra Raza Lin, which acts as a proxy for the terrorist Myanmar military, also provided military training to forcibly recruited new conscripts inside Set-yone-su Ward, Sittwe, in September and sent them to the frontlines in collaboration with the Myanmar military.
However, Saw Mra Raza Lin stated in an interview with The Irrawaddy news agency that she is not foolish enough to collaborate with the Myanmar military.
