An elderly internally displaced man was killed and two others were injured after a junta airstrike targeted Maw Gyi Village, where war-displaced civilians are sheltering, in Kyaukphyu Township, Arakan State, according to reports.

The attack occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on February 2, when the military junta carried out an aerial assault using one paramotor aircraft, dropping no fewer than five bombs on Maw Gyi Village, where displaced civilians were residing.

As a result of the bombing, U Khine Aung, an 85-year-old internally displaced man originally from Nga Pu Chwin Village, was killed instantly at the scene.

The two injured civilians were identified as U Khin Maung Che (60) and U Thein Kyaw Nu (65), both of whom sustained injuries after being struck by bomb fragments.

The two injured victims are currently receiving emergency medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

Similarly, on January 24, a school building in Mu Yin Village, Kyaukphyu Township—where internally displaced persons were sheltering—was bombed by the military junta using a drone, resulting in the deaths of three displaced civilians, including a nine-month-old infant.
