The Easter festival, a sacred day for Christians marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ, was grandly celebrated on April 7 at a location within Kyauktaw Township, Arakan.

Due to regional instability and intense fighting, the local community had been unable to hold such celebrations for the past six years.

According to a member of the Christian community, this year marked the first time in over half a decade that five churches from five different Christian villages in Kyauktaw Township were able to unite and resume the celebrations.

Officials from the ULA/AA attended the event to honor the occasion and provided financial support to ensure the festival's success, a local resident noted.

The ceremony featured six pastors and one scripture reader who shared biblical messages and offered prayers. Additionally, Christian youth performed hymns and religious dance dramas in honor of Jesus Christ.

"Because of the flames of war in our region, we haven’t been able to gather for religious festivals for over six years. Being able to reunite across five churches today is by the grace of God. We are also beyond happy that the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) came to encourage and honor us," said one of the church leaders.

A ULA/AA official attending the event stated that they are consistently working to ensure that all diverse ethnic and religious groups residing in the Arakan region have the right to freely practice their faiths and to ensure religious equality.

Easter Sunday is a significant holy day for Christians worldwide, celebrated annually in April to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
