In the northern part of Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, on Kyee Kyaung Island along the Arakan–Bangladesh border, an intense armed clash occurred this morning, January 11, between the Arakan Army (AA) and the terrorist group ARSA, according to reports.
A local resident stated: "This morning, around 6:30 a.m., the ARSA group initiated firing from the Bangladesh side toward an AA camp on Kyee Kyaung Island. As a result, fighting broke out between both sides."

During the clash, due to the Arakan Army's (AA) counterattack, ARSA members retreated and fled back to the Bangladesh side of the riverbank.
Local eyewitnesses confirmed that the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) arrested and took into custody the ARSA members who crossed the border while fleeing.
While the clash was ongoing, at around 10:30 a.m., a stray bullet landed and struck the Tecchbridge area in Waikang UP, Teknaf Township, Bangladesh.
As a result of this stray bullet, a Bangladeshi schoolgirl died on the spot, according to reports.
Currently, the security situation remains tense along the entire Arakan–Bangladesh border. The Arakan Army has not yet issued an official statement regarding the clash.
