Boy Killed, Two Injured in Unexploded Ordnance Blast in Gwa Township

A 12-year-old boy was killed and two other children were injured after an unexploded ordnance detonated in Kywe Chai Village, Gwa Township, on the afternoon of March 8, according to local sources.

The victim was identified as Maung Wai Yan Lin (12), a resident of Kywe Chai Village. The two injured boys were Maung Kyaw Ko Ko (12) and Maung Tun Lin Naing (11).

Local residents said the three boys discovered an unexploded RPG round near the coastline close to Kywe Chai Village at around 2:30 p.m. While they were handling the munition, it suddenly exploded.

Maung Wai Yan Lin was killed instantly in the blast, while Kyaw Ko Ko and Tun Lin Naing sustained multiple injuries to their bodies.

The two injured boys are currently receiving emergency medical treatment, according to sources.
