Arakkha Government Officials Attend and Praise the Khumi New Year Festival Held in Paletwa

The United League of Arakan (ULA) district party committee officials attended and commended the Khumi New Year Festival ceremony, which was traditionally and splendidly organized within Paletwa District, according to reports.


The Khumi New Year Festival, which fell on December 1, was led and held by the Khumi Literature and Culture (Central) Association. The ceremony began at 8:00 AM on December 1, sources said.


The event was attended and praised by members of the ULA district party committee, as well as relevant departments of the Arakan Revolutionary Government (ARG) led by ULA/AA (Arakan Army), according to the event organizing committee.


In the opening remarks at the Khumi New Year Festival ceremony, the Khumi Literature and Culture Central Association stated:


"Today, the 1st day of the waxing moon of Le Lo Lo, in the Khumi Year 2595, and December 1, 2025 in the Christian calendar, is the Khumi New Year Festival ceremony organized and hosted by the Khumi Literature and Culture (Central) Association. We extend our special thanks to all the religious leaders, district party committee officials, and all attendees who have joined us. We pray and wish for everyone to be physically and mentally healthy and prosperous. The Khumi people have, since ancient times, annually celebrated the 1st day of the waxing moon of the Khumi year—December 1—as a sacred and auspicious day of great significance, holding the New Year Festival with reverence and value."

Following that, the ULA district party committee officials who attended the ceremony stated:


"In the coming years, we aim to organize the New Year Festival even more grandly, safely, and vibrantly than before. It is essential to hold this New Year Festival, which the Khumi people hold dear, every year without fail. Any challenges will be addressed and managed by the relevant government departments."


In addition, as district party committee officials, they not only provided support and assistance for the necessary requirements but also contributed 500,000 kyats to ensure the successful organization of the New Year Festival, the event organizing committee said.


The Khumi New Year Festival held in Paletwa District was attended by religious leaders, ethnic group leaders, members of the Khumi Literature and Culture (Central) Association, members of the ULA district party committee, relevant departments of the Arakan Revolutionary Government, and Khumi people, sources confirmed.
