Arakan Army Provides Free Mobile Medical Treatment to Local Residents in Maungdaw District

In Maungdaw District, Arakan, the Arakan Army has been consistently providing free mobile medical treatments and health awareness programs to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and local civilians since April 25.


Medical personnel from the Arakan Army (AA) provided free mobile medical care to local residents who are in critical need of healthcare services, including those from Pyin Chaung (Chak) and Inn Chaung (Chak) villages in Buthidaung Township, Maungdaw District.


In addition, relevant officials conducted educational talks to raise awareness among local residents regarding dengue hemorrhagic fever, skin diseases, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, alongside sharing knowledge on personal hygiene.


On June 9, the Arakan Public Health Department and medical teams from the Arakan Army (AA) also provided free medical care and supplied necessary medicines to over 50 local residents from Pyin Chaung village in Buthidaung Township, including pregnant women and individuals suffering from diarrhea, skin diseases, and other general ailments.


While the Arakan Public Health Department has been consistently executing dengue fever prevention initiatives, the first hospitalized dengue patient in Arakan was recorded on April 28, 2026.


The disease has been progressively spreading, with a total of 33 hospitalized patients reported across Ramree, Mrauk-U, Rathedaung, Minbya, and Myebon townships as of June 10.


In 2025, there were a total of 2,452 dengue cases and 8 fatalities recorded across the entire Arakan State. According to a statement by the Arakan Public Health Department, Mrauk-U was the hardest-hit town with 946 cases, followed by Minbya Township with 704 cases as the second highest, with dengue infections reported in nearly every township across Arakan.
