The Arakan Army (AA) has carried out a third round of releases involving detainees from the Minbya conflict, freeing a total of 152 individuals, including prisoners of war and their family members, according to sources.

The release was conducted in a formal ceremony on March 10. Those freed comprised 44 men, 54 women, and 54 children.

A local official stated that the release of family members was undertaken on humanitarian grounds, with arrangements made to ensure their safe return to their respective families.

As part of the process, receiving family members were required to sign formal undertakings in the presence of officials from the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government, confirming the proper transfer of the released individuals.

One of the released individuals said they had been treated well during their detention and expressed appreciation for the release.

This marks the third such release following the Minbya battle. Earlier, 170 individuals were released in April 2025 and 225 more in May 2025.

The AA captured Minbya on February 6, 2024, after defeating military junta forces, and has since been conducting systematic reviews of detainees, leading to phased releases.

Local residents emphasized the importance of family reunification after conflict-related separation and expressed hope that similar humanitarian efforts will continue.

Despite ongoing tensions in Arakan, observers note that such releases remain an important step in addressing humanitarian concerns arising from the conflict.
