The Arakan Army (AA) coastal security force captured 13 Bangladeshi fishermen and 3 fishing boats, according to reports in Bangladeshi media.

The news reports state that the fishermen, who had been illegally fishing in Arakan's territorial waters, were captured near Na Khaung To at the mouth of the Nat River around 7:00 AM on March 28, as they were returning to Shapuree Island (Sin Byu Island) in Teknaf Township.

The captured fishermen taken into the custody of the Arakan Army (AA) coastal security force are identified as Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman (40 years old), Mohammad Farid Hossain (30), Mohammad Robiul Hasan (17), and 10 other fishermen.

Earlier, on March 20, a cargo boat from Arakan carrying sacks of potatoes was reportedly robbed by Bangladeshi fishermen in the Arakan Sea, during which the boat crew's leader had his leg slashed with a knife.

Although the Arakan Army (AA) has repeatedly captured and taken action against Bangladeshi fishermen encroaching into the Arakan Sea for illegal fishing, such encroachments continue unabated.
