Three underage children from Kyan Khinn Village, Ponnagyun Township, who voluntarily arrived to serve in the AA, were handed back over to their parents today, August 18, by the ULA/AA.
The three children reunited with their parents from Kyan Khinn Village, Ponnagyun Township, are 13-year-old Maung Kyaw San Oo, son of U Saw Mya; 13-year-old Maung Soe Naing Oo, son of U Aung Aung Than; and 14-year-old Maung Win Min Than, son of U Maung Tin Shwe.
According to an official from the AA, the three youths had left their village without informing their parents on August 13 to join the AA voluntarily for military service.
"These three kids rented an Indian three-wheeler from their village to serve in the Army and arrived at one of our camps. When they arrived at the front of the camp, troops questioned them, and they stated they had come to become soldiers. Hearing this, the Army held the boys for a couple of days to conduct an inquiry," an official from the AA stated.
According to the official, the inquiry revealed that the three children were under the legal age for recruitment.
Because they are still of school age and under the eligible military age, the AA contacted their parents from Kyan Khinn Village, Ponnagyun Township, and safely returned them in good health this morning.
Despite the current critical military situation, the AA thoroughly checks whether individuals who voluntarily come to join the force meet the legal age requirements and are in good health before accepting them.
Similarly, under the National Defense Emergency Provision (NDEP) established by the AA, military recruitment is conducted only after thoroughly verifying age eligibility, health status, and other required criteria.
