The United League for Arakan (ULA) has officially rejected recent allegations by the organization Fortify Rights, accusing them of disseminating false information aimed at damaging the group's reputation and hindering peace efforts in Arakan State.
In a detailed statement released on October 25, ULA vehemently denied claims that it committed human rights violations, including forced labor. The group stated that the allegations are baseless, unsubstantiated, and solely rely on fabricated stories propagated by religious extremist and terrorist insurgent groups, with no concrete evidence such as specific dates, locations, or involved persons.
"These accusations are politically motivated and designed to tarnish our image," the statement read. ULA emphasized its commitment to international conventions, including the ILO Convention No. 29 on Forced Labour, asserting that it has never violated these principles and actively promotes human rights, religious harmony, and social equality among diverse ethnic communities in Arakan State.
The organization further highlighted its efforts to foster harmony among Arakan’s multi-religious communities, stating that all ethnic groups enjoy equal rights and opportunities in sectors such as religion, education, health, and administration.
"Fortify Rights' biased actions undermine the social harmony and progress we have worked tirelessly to build," ULA declared. They urged Fortify Rights to conduct proper investigations into the ground realities in Arakan and to reconsider the political motives and external influences—such as financial support from extremist factions—that may be fueling these false accusations.
The statement concludes with a firm stance: "We strongly condemn and reject Fortify Rights’ unfounded claims, which are disconnected from reality and serve malicious interests."
As tensions around human rights and ethnic harmony persist in the region, ULA calls for objective assessment and genuine commitment to truth and peace.
