Out of 900 youths from Ayeyarwady Region who were forcibly recruited and completed the first batch of "People’s Military Service" training, only three have returned to their homes so far.

This was reported by the Special Information Force-Pathein, a social media page that regularly broadcasts news regarding the Ayeyarwady Region.

The three returnees are from Wakema, Kangyidaunt, and Pathein townships. They returned home after reportedly serving their mandatory two-year term as stipulated under the military service law.

While these three individuals have made it back, the status of the remaining personnel remains unknown, causing deep anxiety among their families. Relatives who went to the Southwest Regional Military Command (Na-Ta-Kha) to inquire were reportedly met with no response from responsible officials.

The terrorist Myanmar military began forcibly recruiting youths aged 18 to 35 in April 2024, claiming they were required to serve for two years. Approximately 900 youths from 26 townships were taken at that time, and their designated service term officially expired in April 2026.

According to various sources, the military had promised at the time of recruitment that the individuals would be sent back to their families after two years. However, with only three having returned, there has been no news or trace regarding the fate of the hundreds of others.
