Bangladeshi fishing boats frequently trespass into Arakan (Rakhine) territorial waters to poach fish. To crack down on such illegal activities, a coastal security patrol was dispatched from the Ngakhuara (Nga Khu Ra) coastal area at 5:30 AM today.
While on patrol, at approximately 6:34 AM, the team intercepted and arrested one wooden fishing boat carrying six fishermen. The boat was found approximately 3.77 nautical miles west of Ywet Nyo village, Maungdaw Township.

Seized items included:
22 four-layer fishing nets
80 kg of fish
3 keypad mobile phones
300 yards of tarpaulin
The boat, the six fishermen, and all confiscated items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
It is reported that between January and July 18, 2025, Arakan authorities released approximately 188 Bangladeshi fishermen and 30 boats in the spirit of maintaining good bilateral relations. However, due to the lack of appropriate respect and reciprocal constructive response from Bangladeshi authorities, subsequent intruders have been detained and are being prosecuted under the law.
