The Myanmar military has conducted a series of air and naval attacks on two towns in Arakan State amid escalating clashes with the Arakan Army (AA), according to reports.

The Arakan Army stated that the military launched airstrikes and naval artillery attacks on Sittwe Township and Kyaukphyu Township on November 17.

In Sittwe Township, the military dropped an estimated 60 bombs from a Y-12 aircraft near the bridge of Amyint Kyun Village at around 4:30 p.m.

In Kyaukphyu Township, three villages were also hit by both airstrikes and naval fire. At 12:35 p.m., two 500-pound bombs were dropped on Kyaukkalay Village. Around 12:30 p.m., another airstrike struck inside Lait Tin Village, with bombs landing on the premises of Lait Tin Village Basic Education School. The school was damaged, but students and teachers evacuated safely, and no casualties were reported. However, two pigs near the school were killed. An explosive drone also struck the same location at approximately 12:39 p.m.

Later that evening, at 8:17 p.m., the military bombed areas near Minyat Village and Thanchaung Village in Minyat Unit. At 8:25 p.m., additional heavy-weapon fire was launched from a naval vessel positioned near Zinchang Beach, targeting the villages.

Local authorities and rescue teams are continuing to investigate whether there were any civilian casualties. Due to ongoing airstrikes in Kyaukphyu Township, residents have been warned to remain alert to the rising risks from aerial attacks.
